Milan Franek studied at the Conservatory in Pilsen and the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, Czech Republic, at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and in Graz, Austria and at the Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. He also participated in several international piano master classes with renowned pianists (Eva Solar-Kindermann, Williard Schultz, Pierre Jasmin - Canada, Peter Roggenkamp – Germany, Avo Kouyoumdian – Austria, Eugen Indjic and Livia Rév – France).Mr. Franek tought at various music institutions and music universities both in the Czech Republic (University of Hradec Kralove, Conservatory and College of J.Jezek, Charles University in Prague a.o.) and abroad (Malaysia - Universiti Teknologi MARA, Shah Alam, Austria – Vienna Music Academy and Amadeus International School Vienna). Milan made several recordings of classical music for the Czech Radio and performed concerts in the Czech Republic, Austria, Great Britain, the Netherlands, France, Norway, Lithuania, Serbia, Malaysia, China and Japan. In April 2015 recorded Milan complete Jazz Etudes by a Czech composer Milan Dvorak for the English label „Toccata Classics“. Since the year 2012 Milan Franek has conducted piano masterclasses at renowned music universities and music institiutions in many countries (Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, China, Japan, Israel, Austria and Luxembourg). In July 2015 and August 2017 he joined the piano faculty of the International Summer Music Festival and Academy „Musicfest“ in Perugia, Italy. Mr. Franek serves often as a jury member or chairman of various international piano competitions (for instance „E. Grieg International Piano Competition in Norway, „Piano Forever“ piano competition in Ashdod, Israel, „Music Talent Piano Competition“ in Ningbo, China, Macao International Piano Competition etc.).
In March 2018 became M. Franek a faculty member of the School of Music at the Zhaoqing University in China and conducted piano masterclasses at the Nanjing Music Festival and Shenzhen Arts School. In August 2018 joined Mr. Franek the as chairman of the jury and took part in the „Ningbo International Piano Art Festival“. In November 2018 gave Mr. Franek a lecture-recital about jazz articulation at the University of Performing Arts in Bratislava, Slovakia and conducted piano masterclasses at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem Music Academy in Israel. In April 2019 conducted M. Franek a piano masterclass at the Academy for Performing Arts in Hong Kong. Since 2010 is Milan Franek the President of the European Piano Teachers Association (EPTA) for the Czech Republic (www.epta-cz.com), in 2017 he became the artistic director of the Ant. Petrof International Piano Competition (www.competition.antpetrof.com).
Mr. Franek´s teaching approach combines both the physical side of piano playing (such as correct posture and prevention of pain and injuries) and musical aspects (based on the historically informed performance especially in the baroque and classical period). Milan Franek teaches in 5 different languages – English, German, French, Spanish and Czech.
