Eitan Globerson is Professor of piano and conducting, and chair of orchestral conducting at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, where he also served as music director of the Mendi Rodan Symphony Orchestra, as Dean of Performing Arts, and Chair of the Piano Department. Graduated (summa cumme laude) from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. Completed his studies at the Hannover Musikhochschule in piano and conducting. Studied under the guidance of Dina Turgeman, Michael Boguslavsky, Yahli Vagman Arie Vardi, Boris Berman and Irina Edelstein in piano, and Mendi Rodan, Hans Herbert Joris and Lutz Koehler, in conducting.
Won prizes in many national and international competitions for performance, including the Francois Shapira Prize, Dino Ciani Competition (Teatro alla Scala, Milano) and the UNISA Piano Competition, Pretoria.
Performed as soloist with various orchestras in Israel and abroad, including the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Israel Camerata Orchestra, Brno Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra of South Africa, as well as others. Played recitals and chamber music concerts in Israel, Europe, the USA and the Far East. Recorded for the Israeli Broadcasting Authority. Conducted the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Israel Camerata Orchestra, Israel Chamber Orchestra, Israel Symphony Orchestra, Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Israel Sinfonietta, Concerto Grosso Orchestra Frankfurt, Penn's Woods Festival Orchestra, Pennsylvania, the Kibbutz Chamber Orchestra, the Young Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Symphonette Orchestra, etc. Served as Conductor-In-Residence of the Northern Israel Symphony Orchestra, as well as Conductor-In-Residence at the New Israeli Opera, where he conducted a variety of operas. Invited for masterclasses and lectures to many institutions worldwide, including Yale University School of Music, McGill University, Montreal, Stony Brook University, Curtis Institute, Freiburg Musikhochschule, Toronto University School of Music, Chopin University, Warsaw, Beijing Central Conservatory, Liszt Academy in Budapest, Washington Catholic University, Penn State University, Mannes School of Music, Chicago University, Montclair University NJ, Columbus Ohio University, Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, Buchmann-Mehta School of Music at Tel Aviv University and the Perugia Music Festival.
Served as Visiting Professor at the Yale University Graduate School of Music and at the McGill University Schulich School of Music. Many of his students have been prize winners in national and international competitions, performing in concerts in Israel and abroad with renowned orchestras. Served as jury member in many national and international music competitions. In addition to his musical activities, Eitan Globerson is also active in scientific research.
He holds a Ph.D. in Brain Sciences from the Gonda Multidisciplinary Brain Research Center, Bar Ilan University. He is currently involved in scientific research at different laboratories, including New York City University laboratory for bird song, the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, Ottawa University, the Weizmann Institute of Science, and the Tel Aviv University. His fields of research include music perception, prosody in the general population and the autistic spectrum, psychoacoustics, bird song and motor control. His papers on these topics have been published in prestigious scientific journals. He is frequently invited as a guest lecturer to scientific conferences in Israel and abroad.
