Joining the stage from the far corners and back trails of her native South Africa, mezzo- soprano Samantha Malk is an artist devoted to the love of her craft. She began carving out her career focusing on recital and concert repertoire. Among her collaborations, she performed alongside Mark Morris Dance Group, the International Contemporary Ensemble and Brooklyn Art Song Society.
In the operatic arena, Samantha has portrayed the roles of Dido in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Cherubino in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro as well as Mercedes in Bizet’s Carmen. She is an alumna of Tanglewood Music Center, Steans Music Institute at Ravinia Music Festival, Acadèmie Musicale de Villecroze and Britten Pears Young Artist Programme at Aldeburgh Music Festival. Besides her dedication to the art of music making, Samantha is committed to developing and inspiring singers.
For the last four years, she has been a voice consultant for the young artist program at the Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv and Samantha joined the voice faculty of the International Vocal Arts Institute in Israel in 2014. Samantha maintains a private voice studio in New York City and guest teaches in host cities such as Amsterdam, London and Paris. This summer Samantha is delighted to join the faculty of Music Fest Perugia.
